I am a Fashion Branding and Buying student who is studying at Hong Kong Design Institute and have chosen Sourcing stream  as my major subject. As a sourcing student, I have mainly studied in garment technology, fabric structure and properties, and also material sourcing knowledge.

​

Studying in HKDi, I have joined different activities. For instant, visited two factories of two big companies which are Esquel and Hoi ming. Visiting two one-stopped factories production, I realised in the mass production of fashion industry, we mainly rely on machines. It is believed that this production stage are eventually replaced by artificial intelligence. On the contrary, being the one who supervise and quality checking are the part that Ai can not replace and this is the reason that foster my curiosity on learning more about the new technology among the fashion industry nowadays.

 

Apart from my study which is more focusing on the production of clothings, I also gain some experiences of retailing in my working life. I have done a part time sales at Double Park from I.T apparel for a half year. Moreover, I have been recommended to have a half year internship as a merchandising assistant on a local company named 'Badges story''. After completed the above two jobs, I have known the customers' demands from their points of view, the more imagination the same situation that customers are facing with, the more I would understand what should be improved on a product.

Being a fashion fanatic, I am interested to learn anything about it, from the ideas of design to the marketing skills. However, as a Chinese saying goes, 'All things are difficult before they are easy.'  I believed that showing your passion to clothes is not only telling various brands or styles that you know, but understanding the materials used, fabric structured and the technology applied. These are the parts that drive my interests most.
